So the strike is finally over. I'm out of a job, but I had expected it to end months ago.


"Don't take time off, you never know when it will end"

"You shouldn't complain about the hours, it's only temporary"

"9 hours a day isn't bad- get the money while you can."

and my favourite, "Well, it can't last another week. Make the best of it."


It was the temporary gig that wouldn't end. Four months- any day could be the last but there was no end in sight. A boring horror film where the bannanas keep coming down the belt and you keep scanning, [sign-in] [sign-out] [11] [enter] *beep* [total] [cash] [cash]- Next Please! Every day until your arches fall.

I'm not unemployed. I'm on sabbatical.
